architectural beauty: the ripponlea estate {australia}

The Ripponlea Estate is lovely place isn’t it? It was built by Sir Frederick Sargood and his wife Marian in 1868 when he purchased 42 acres of fantastic land. When Frederick died in 1903 other owners took it upon themselves to extend and remodel the home to what we have today. I think each family did a fantastic job of keeping Frederick’s idea alive but including their own taste of what a home should look like. You can view more of this property on life_student’s flickr set (all images © to him) and get more on the background of the home on Wikipedia.
gorgeous lighting… decor inspiration
new finds… gretel home

“ At Gretel we love modern design. We also love all things pretty. Your home can be stylish and have a heart; we like to think of it as cozy sophistication. “ What a great introduction! I was drawn to the website by the lovely photography they had for their products (via weheartit) and I am certantly glad I took a look around, so many unique items with a sweet Scandinavian flare. I found these cute little cups to be my absolute favorite on the website. What’s yours?
yellow air-balloon tree house

This gorgeous Yellow Treehouse restaurant was designed by Pacific Environments Architects for New Zealand’s Yellowpages ad campaign as a way to help people see Yellow in a better light (pun intended? hope so!). “We’ve had lots of people questioning whether the treehouse is for real because it is an ad campaign. Well, having eaten at the restaurant myself, I can assure people that Tracey, the tree, and the restaurant are very real.“ Its so lovely, what I would do to live in a house just like this one. You can read a more in-depth article about it on Yatzer, including construction photos.
interior design by maria yasko

Aren’t these divine?! The inner-child in me really wishes they could own the room in the 3rd one! You can see a few more shots of Maria’s work at her website.
merry christmas everyone… { it’s that time of year }

Cant wait to eat ham, turkey and roast (i’ll be sure to pace myself) and my mother made these delicious tea cookies, which have been apart of our holidays for the last few years. Our decorated tree looks gorgeous under our cathedral window, and this year my cats didn’t try to knock it down. :)
I also want to say that I am very thankful for what I have in my life, even when things happen that may seem very stressful, I do not have it anywhere near as hard as millions of other people in this world…
Merry Christmas all. Hope you have a wonderful day!
