The Ripponlea Estate is lovely place isn’t it? It was built by Sir Frederick Sargood and his wife Marian in 1868 when he purchased 42 acres of fantastic land. When Frederick died in 1903 other owners took it upon themselves to extend and remodel the home to what we have today. I think each family did a fantastic job of keeping Frederick’s idea alive but including their own taste of what a home should look like. You can view more of this property on life_student’s flickr set (all images © to him) and get more on the background of the home on Wikipedia.

Amanda, I’m obsessed with your blog and all of the lovely images like this. Thanks for making my days more beautiful!
this is simply beautiful…i would love to take a closer look at the entire place.
wow….this place is amazing! can you even imagine living there?
Love it, I’d move in there any day!
I fell in love with the first picture this winter, I found it somewhere, somehow. And since then I’ve been wondering, “if a window can be this beautiful, I’ve got to see the rest of the house!” And here you are serving me the whole story and all the facts on a silver plate! Thank you! :)
